The University of Sydney is a special place where people learn and discover new things. It’s like a big community with more than 70,000 students and many teachers. Our university has been a leader for a long time, always believing in the power of education to make the world a better place.
Our university was one of the first in the world to let students in based on how smart they are, and we were also one of the first to welcome both boys and girls. We want to help everyone in our community and make their lives better.
Since the beginning in 1850, we knew education could bring positive changes. Today, we continue to believe in that power.
Our teachers and researchers are very smart and work on big problems, like finding cures for dangerous diseases and creating tiny machines that do big things in computers. We have more than 90 places where we do research, and we team up with great companies like Microsoft, GE, and Qantas to make things that help our communities, both near and far.
We understand that the world is changing, so we are changing the way we teach. We want our students to be ready for the future. We want every student to finish their time with us feeling confident, able to think well, work together with others, and make a positive impact on the world.
