People who are intersex or sometimes called Morphodites, not transgender people, studying at Government Girls High School Garden Town in Lahore will get Rs. 10,000 every month. The Lahore Education Authority said this.
As per the announcement, they’ll get Rs. 5,000 every month, plus another Rs. 5,000 for traveling.
But only those students who are Morphodites and go to school 80% of the time will get the money every month. Also, at Garden Town school, classes have been happening only on the first three days of the week since last year.
As a part of this plan, kids who are intersex get free school, books, and meals, and they don’t have to pay anything for school. Teachers who know a lot about teaching have been hired to make sure these kids get good education.
It’s important to know that the first school for the Morphodite community started in December last year. Murad Raas, the old Education Minister, opened it. Before this, similar schools were made in other places in Punjab like Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
