The group in charge of important decisions about money (ECNEC) might agree to change how many laptops they give to students in Balochistan. They want to increase it from 6 percent to 18 percent over time.
The Planning Commission sent a paper to the group in charge of important decisions about money (ECNEC). It talked about how they decide who gets laptops and how much each laptop costs.
According to how well students do in their studies, laptops will be given out. They’ll look at each type of degree and give laptops based on how many students are studying in each one.
- Students who got 70 percent marks in the semester system (2.88 CGPA) and 60 percent marks in the annual system can apply.
- First-semester students in BS need to give their high school marks, which will be turned into CGPA. But for first-semester MS/Ph.D. students, they need to add their previous degree program numbers.
- They’ll change the CGPA/GPA into a percentage using a special math formula.
- The best students in each department/program will get laptops based on their quota (either for the year or semester). For BS/Diploma, it’s by the year, and for MS/MPhil or similar degrees, it’s by semester.
The Prime Minister started a program called PM Laptops Scheme in 2013 to help young people. They planned to do this for five years. They got 500,000 laptops and gave them out in two parts, following special rules to choose who gets them based on the rules of the program.
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan had a job to organize and decide how to give out laptops for this program. They’re working on Phase III, planning to give 100,000 laptops to smart students in 2023. It’s also part of the budget for the year 2023-24 as a project called “Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.”
People talked about this project in a meeting, and it got partly approved. Now, the people who want to help with this project have sent some changes they want to make to the plan.
