Introduction Of New GPA-Based Grading System In Secondary Education

Starting this year, students’ result cards will display GPA scores ranging from 1 to 5 instead of showing exact marks.

An official notification has been issued by all educational boards, indicating the introduction of a new grading system. This system will be implemented for 9th and 11th-grade students beginning with the Annual Examinations in 2023, while for 10th and 12th-grade students, it will be effective from the Annual Examinations in 2024. Initially, each student’s result will include absolute marks, grades, and GPA. However, starting from the Annual Examinations in 2025, only Grades, GPA, and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) will be communicated in the results.

Computation Of GPA In The Grading System For Board Examinations

The online transcript and result card will now display the updated GPA-oriented grading approach. All academic institutions in Pakistan have universally embraced this new grading methodology. The revised system will be applicable to 9th-grade and first-year students starting in 2023, and to 10th-grade and second-year students beginning in 2024. To ascertain their GPA, students can conveniently refer to the provided table. This table is a valuable tool for computing GPA or approximating grade values.

Secondary School Certificate (SSC – I) 1st Annual Board Examination 2023 :

The 9th class board examination was held in March/April 2023.
The announcement of the result is scheduled between August 10-15, 2023.
A minimum of 40% marks is required to pass each subject. Students obtaining lower marks will receive a U grade (Unsatisfactory / previously known as FAIL). Additionally, your grades will be indicated for each subject.
The result card/transcript will include subject-wise marks, grades, and GPA. The grading system will now replace the marks system, as already communicated by the educational boards.

How To Apply For Rechecking Of Papers Marks Of 9th Class Result 2023 :

All inquiries regarding the candidates’ result should be directed to the Controller Examination of the board.
Up-and-comers who wish to apply for re-checking of their paper(s) can do so online through the BISE site (https://www.bisemalakand.edu.pk/) in the span of 15 days after the outcome statement.
A student who scores below 40% marks in one or more subjects or is absent in the Part-I Examination (if not appearing in the class 10th Examination) may be readmitted in Part-I with a change or in the same combination of subjects/group in any other or the same educational institute / high school.
