Islamabad: Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), mentioned on Wednesday that his department is working on different measures to modernize the traditional education system by incorporating the latest technology. They are introducing projects like ‘smart teaching,‘ ‘smart campuses,‘ and ‘smart university‘ to encourage a diverse technological environment.
During a chat with the media, he mentioned that the goal is to get students and students ready with the latest technology and knowledge in the digital world. He shared that HEC is creating a new way of learning to tackle the growing tech challenges. He also mentioned that the Government is putting in a lot of effort to give students access to the internet and better facilities that can help them.
He mentioned that online tools and classrooms will give students and teachers a chance to mix traditional and online learning. He also said HEC is working on policies for affiliation, online education, artificial intelligence, and a system-based approach. In response to a question, he stressed that everyone needs to work together to make positive changes. HEC, with the help of all related departments, is reviewing its policies.
He shared that they’re putting in long-term plans to help universities offer excellent technology-based education through virtual campuses. He said, “HEC is committed to making Pakistan a digital country, making the dream come true.“
To answer another question, he mentioned that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) took a big step to make data easier to get and get recognized around the world. They’ve set up two super-advanced Data Centres. These Centres will help researchers at Pakistani universities access data quickly, securely, and reliably, giving them a big advantage.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is also starting a Smart University project. This project will provide university campuses with Wi-Fi everywhere, like a cozy blanket, so that other smart tools can be used whenever they are needed, he added.
