Saudi Arabia Contributes $38M to Global Education Fund: Boosting Worldwide Learning Initiatives

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia is pleased to join the Global Partnership for Education and contribute $38 Million toward providing access to quality education in developing nations.

Talking to Arab News during the Human Capability Initiative in Riyadh, Laura Frigenti, who is in charge of the fund, explained that the money will be used to help change the education system in countries that need more help and get students ready for jobs in today’s world.

The Global Partnership for Education is the biggest fund that focuses only on making schools better in countries where people don’t have a lot of money.

The CEO explained that the Global Partnership for Education was started around 22 years ago. Since then, with the money they gathered and extra money they got, they have spent about $11 billion to make education better all around the world.

She mentioned, ” We work in around 90 countries, helping out in places where people don’t have much money. We give support like advice and money to help the government make sure schools are doing well in those countries, even when things are tough.

” GPE offers countries of importance to Saudi Arabia, such Yemen and others in the Middle East like Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan and more, invaluable assistance, she said.

Frigenti praised the Saudi government for focusing on education and understanding how important it is for making the economy more diverse.

She made the point that Saudi Arabia is getting ready for its “very young” population, who will require the necessary skills to be employable in a world that is changing rapidly.

Every country is facing difficulties, but countries in the Middle East and North Africa are most affected. It’s probable that many young people especially females don’t have the skills needed for the occupations of the future.

In Arab countries, many young people, about 25%, don’t have jobs, and for young women, it’s even more, around 40%. GPE and Saudi Arabia are now working together to spend more money on education. This is a strong effort to help the region and other places grow. The goal is to give students the skills they need to succeed and be happy, as mentioned in the body’s statement.

The CEO is really happy that Saudi Arabia is now officially part of the partnership. She’s excited because Saudi Arabia can be an example for other countries. She thinks that the things Saudi Arabia has done to help can be useful for everyone. She’s looking forward to Saudi Arabia sharing its story with the world.

Saudi Arabia stands out as being special because of the wealth of resources it possesses. Not every country can spend as much money as Saudi Arabia, but the way the government here is focused on education and planning for the future can be helpful for many other places.
