Since it started in Brisbane in 1909, The University of Queensland (UQ) has been offering amazing learning experiences and doing excellent research. UQ is all about sharing knowledge and working together for a better world.

UQ has three campuses and more than 40 places for learning and research. It’s the perfect place to teach, study, and do research. UQ has fantastic features like the biggest research library in Queensland, lots of study spaces, museums, a theater, 11 college residences, and great sports facilities like gyms, pools, fields, running tracks, and courts for tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

UQ offers about 390 programs for students, both for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. These programs cover the latest knowledge in various fields, and students get to learn from UQ’s world-famous research. UQ has six faculties, eight well-known research institutes, and over 100 research centers. More than 2,000 scientists, social scientists, and engineers work together at UQ to lead in research.

Besides studying, students at UQ get to enjoy the beautiful campuses and the great weather in Queensland. UQ is close to many natural wonders like beaches, rainforests, deserts, the Great Barrier Reef, and the largest sand island in the world. Within an hour’s drive, there are tourist attractions like the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, and the famous Australia Zoo.

Brisbane, where UQ is located, is known for being a friendly and affordable city. In 2022, it was ranked as the world’s 27th most liveable city. UQ’s motto is “Scientia ac Labore,” which means ‘by means of knowledge and hard work.’ UQ is proud of its history and tradition and has made a real impact on the world with innovations like developing jet biofuels, creating cheap pharmaceuticals from algae, protecting the Great Barrier Reef, and more.

UQ has a long list of achievements, from empowering families through the Triple P Positive Parenting Program to developing technology used in two-thirds of the world’s MRI machines. They are also known for their Nobel Prize winner, Australians of the Year, award winners in entertainment, leaders in politics, and successful people in various fields.

UQ is home to the world’s longest-running scientific experiment, the Pitch Drop, started in 1927. In the last 50 years, UQ has produced impressive individuals, including Nobel Prize winners, Australians of the Year, award-winning entertainers, leaders in politics, athletes, authors, and many more.
