Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that teachers of the best students in all provincial education boards will get awards. This is part of a bigger plan to improve education and support students and teachers in Punjab.
During a meeting with the education department, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the need of rewarding teachers who put in a lot of effort to support their students’ academic success. She told the department to make sure that both top students and their teachers are properly rewarded and appreciated.
Besides the awards for teachers, the Chief Minister also agreed to new projects to help students and update schools in Punjab:
- The Punjab government will spend over Rs125 billion each year to pay for the education of 25,000 students, so money problems don’t stop them from studying.
- To make sure female students have safe transportation, the Chief Minister said that buses will be provided to 60 girls’ colleges across Punjab.
- To help with technology and digital skills, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the setup of computer centers in every district of Punjab.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sajid Zafar Dal, and Higher Education Secretary Dr. Farrukh Naveed were within the many important officials of the provincial government present at the meeting. They came together to work on improving education in Punjab.
