Introduction Of New GPA-Based Grading System In Secondary Education

Starting this academic year, the precise marks attained by students will not be displayed on their result cards. Instead, a GPA ranging from 1 to 5 will be allocated to each student. This alteration has been communicated through official notifications by all educational boards. The notifications outline the phased implementation of the grading system, with classes 9th and 11th adopting the new system from the Annual Examinations of 2023, followed by classes 10th and 12th from the Annual Examinations of 2024. Initially, students’ result cards will provide information on absolute marks, corresponding grades, and GPA for each subject. However, commencing from the Annual Examination of 2025, results will exclusively be conveyed through Grades, GPA, and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Computation Of GPA In The Grading System For Board Examinations

The online tripanscrt and result card will now incorporate the novel GPA-based grading system. Currently, this updated grading methodology has been universally introduced by all educational boards across Pakistan. The revised system will be put into effect for 9th class and 1st-year students starting from 2023, while students in the 10th class and 2nd year will experience its implementation from 2024. The process of converting Percentage to GPA has been simplified through an accessible table provided for the students’ convenience. This table can be effectively utilized to calculate one’s GPA or even to estimate corresponding marks.

Secondary School Certificate (SSC – I) First Annual Board Examination 2023 :

The 9th class board examination was held in March/April 2023.
The result is scheduled to be announced between August 10-15, 2023.
A minimum of 40% marks is required to pass each subject. Students obtaining lower marks will receive a U grade (Unsatisfactory / previously known as FAIL). Additionally, your grades will be indicated for each subject.
The result card/transcript will include subject-wise marks, grades, and GPA. The grading system will now replace the marks system, as already communicated by the educational boards.

How To Apply For Rechecking Of Papers Marks Of 9th Class Result 2023 :

All inquiries regarding the candidates’ result should be directed to the Controller Examination of the board.
Candidates who wish to apply for re-checking of their paper(s) can do so online through the BISE website (https://www.bisep.edu.pk/) within 15 days after the result declaration.
A student who scores below 40% marks in one or more subjects or is absent in the Part-I Examination (if not appearing in the class 10th Examination) may be readmitted in Part-I with a change or in the same combination of subjects/group in any other or the same educational institute / high school.
